Welcome

This site is dedicated to rail workers and rail hazmat issues, and was developed with funding from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). NIEHS funding also provides hazardous materials training and radiological transportation courses in training centers and in the field.

The Rail Workers Hazardous Materials Training Program also receives funding from the US Department of Transportation to conduct Hazmat Instructor Train the Trainer courses. This training is offered to rail workers who have an interest in protecting and educating their co-workers and communities.

Uncontrolled releases of chemicals can be extremely dangerous, especially in transportation. Emergency responders are particularly at risk. Any worker who is likely to witness or discover a hazardous materials spill or release or who is likely to be involved in the clean-up or post-emergency response activities of a hazardous materials incident is considered a first responder and is required to be trained by the employer.

Register for Chemical Emergency Response/Hazmat Transportation Courses and DOE Radiological Transportation – Applications are being accepted for hazardous materials, hazmat instructor training, and radiological transportation training courses.
